Compliments Week

A week to spread kindness and compassion

My Inspiration for Compliments Week

Last summer when I attended ASB Camp, I attended a workshop called ‘What If Week’ hosted by El Toro High School. Not knowing what I was stepping into, I walked out feeling inspired and deeply moved by the possibility of creating a campus environment brimming with love and compassion. There are so many students on campus who are going through difficult times, and no one will ever know just by looking at them. That’s why this week was created to establish unity, support, and acceptance. I wanted to bring the compassionate spirit that I saw at El Toro High School to the campus of Fountain Valley High School.

Please watch this ‘What If Week 2013’ video from El Toro. My project was inspired by this movement.

About This Project

About This Project

Welcome to Compliments Week Website! Compliments Week is part of the IdeaFM Movement to fulfill a need with an innovative perspective. This project is a week long event during which students at FVHS will write anonymous compliments to each other on provided slips of paper. At the end of the week, the compliments are collected and made into a paper chain that will hang in their classroom for everyone to read and enjoy. The goal of the Compliments Week Project is to combat negativity and bullying that takes place at school or at home, and to spread compassion through a simple act of kindness. Please follow this blog for updates and progress of the project and spread the word, Thank you!
